Private rehab in Cape Town for addiction and dual diagnosis

Residential treatment for alcohol addiction, drug addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions at Renewed Life Center, Lakeside. Care includes detox under clinical supervision, individual and group therapy, family work and structured aftercare.

Private Rehab & Mental Health Support in Cape Town

Residential treatment for alcohol, drug and behavioural addictions, with strength in cases involving co-occurring depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD or complex trauma. Therapist-led small groups in a discreet private setting in Cape Town's Southern Suburbs.

What treatment actually
involves

A typical residential stay runs two months. The first month covers detox under clinical supervision where indicated, daily individual therapy, and group work on the patterns underneath your substance use. The second month deepens the work with trauma processing, schema work and identity rebuilding. Aftercare runs as a structured 12-week programme post-discharge by video, with coordinated handover to a clinician in your home city. Residential treatment is the beginning. The aftercare period — at home, in your environment — is where the real work continues.

Faq
frequently asked questions

Ask your own question
[ 01 ]
How long is the residential programme?
The primary phase runs approximately one month. Most clients stay two months total. For complex cases — long addiction histories, multiple previous treatments, severe co-occurring conditions — longer engagement is clinically advised. Length is set at assessment and reviewed weekly with your primary therapist
[ 02 ]
How does someone get started?
The first conversation is 20 to 40 minutes by WhatsApp, video or phone. Free, confidential, no obligation. If residential treatment is the right level of care, a clinical pre-admission assessment (45 to 90 minutes) follows within one to three days. From first contact to admission is typically seven to fourteen days. For urgent cases, faster.
[ 03 ]
Do you work with international clients?
Yes — international clients are a primary focus of our practice. We work regularly with people from the United Kingdom, United States, Ireland, the Netherlands and continental Europe, alongside South African clients. For clients from the Netherlands or Belgium, members of our team speak Dutch and can support initial conversations in your language. UK and US passport holders are currently visa-exempt for stays up to 90 days in South Africa. Visa rules can change — always confirm requirements at time of travel. Airport transfers at CPT and return transfer at discharge are included in programme fees.
[ 04 ]
How does payment work?
Treatment is private-pay. We do not bill through South African medical schemes or international insurance — we found this lets us keep clinical decisions independent of insurer requirements. Fees depend on programme length. Most clients pay an initial deposit and balance through programme phases. Admissions explains the structure on the first call.
[ 05 ]
What conditions do you treat alongside addiction?
Many clients arrive with at least one co-occurring condition — depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder or complex trauma. Both addiction and the co-occurring condition are treated in parallel by the same coordinated team, not sequentially.
[ 06 ]
Is rehab in Cape Town safe for international clients?
Our centre is located in Cape Town's Southern Suburbs — a residential area where international visitors live and travel routinely. Clients in residential treatment do not move independently. Transport is supervised, the property is gated and staffed throughout the day and night, and outings are pre-cleared by the clinical team.
